- Facebook page updates to fans gone, new page metrics added: Facebook's getting rid of a little-used feature for pages: "updates" sent to fans' message boxes. Fans weren't seeing them and pages weren't sending them. But per-post impression counts are now included in "insights" data for your Facebook page.
- Crazy sale: Belkin's offering everything half off until September 30. Use "FB50" code at checkout. I love their mini surge protector for travel.
- Srsly: 31 percent of U.S. adults prefer to be reached by text message. That announcement comes on the heels of the UPS decision to offer to text you before your package is delivered.
- Google+ keeps pushing the video chat envelope: This week, they've added features to expand "hangouts" to mobile devices and to make them more collaborative.
- In the job search world, Identified uses your Facebook information to build a professional network built on your personal one -- worth a look -- and on LinkedIn, President Obama's going to hold a town hall meeting on jobs.
- Change passwords, folks: Mark Davidson, a self-styled social media expert, has 3 people tweeting for him. One got fired, but because passwords weren't changed, some instructive drunk-tweeting went on about the boss. Lessons galore here...
- Magisto now with YouTube: Magisto's an automated video-editing tool--not unlike the Flip camera's magic movie feature, it will take several clips and put them together into a movie for you, with other features. Right after going public, the company announced a partnership with YouTube, which means more in-site options for editing on the video giant.
