It's been a colorful week for me, since I'm in between conferences and getting lots of stimulation and ideas for the year ahead. How was your week? Time to kick back and check out the finds and reads I shared on Twitter, where I'm @dontgetcaught and the stream (not mine alone) is now up to 250 million tweets a day. - Pitcher perfect: Going to pitch an infographic? Here's how.
- Video gets wings: YouTube now has free editing tools that are cloud-based.
- Don't be a crash dummy: How to communicate with users when your app or website crashes should be passed around your communications shop, then discussed in detail with your IT folks. And build this into your crisis communications plan, under "anything that can go wrong..."
- Beyond lazy tweets and LOLcats: To share with colleagues who think we're all wasting time on Twitter: How Twitter helps track the spread of diseases in real-time.
- What will save your blog: 5 keys to an editorial calendar that keeps your content on track
- Not safe for work, but great for the weekend: How to reboot yourself, and how to tell it's time to do more than that and overhaul what you're doing.
- Visually and often: How frequently should you post to a Facebook page? Figure out the lifespan of your posts. While you're at it, want to double your pageviews on Facebook? Just add an image to your posts.
- Rethink the robot, please: You'll get better results on social media if you stop automating your posts. Really. Just stop it.
- Gives a whole new meaning to taping: You can hack your Flip to make it do macros and kaleidescope effects, among other things. Not pretty, but effective.
